On March 10, Holly purchased 60 loaves of bread, 24 pounds of peanut butter, 13 jars of jam, 15 cases of fruit drinks, 600 each of snacks, brown bags, sandwich bags and 100 pairs of gloves. On March 12, Mount Notre Dame canceled all public events and all visitors due to the corona virus! With Ohio schools closing, children would need these lunches.
Holly’s “light bulb moment” occurred on March 12 when a Sister said, “Virus or no virus, the poor still need to eat.” Another Sister asked Holly if just Sisters living in Julie Hall could pack the lunches. Perhaps 6 or 8 would volunteer. Holly said, “As I was putting out the supplies on Saturday morning, 13 Sisters began trickling in! Taking precautionary measures, they developed an assembly process and packed 305 lunches in 80 minutes.”
On Sunday, Holly’s friends gathered at her home, took all necessary precautions, and packed 245 lunches. On Monday, March 16, Holly delivered 550 lunches to grateful volunteers at Saint Francis Seraph Ministries.
